The Citadelle is the largest fortification in North America still occupied by regular troops, and is the official residence of the Governor General of Canada. This historic site was built by the Royal Engineers on top of French fortifications dating back to the 17th-century. The Royal 22e Régiment has been garrisoned here since 1920. Guided tours of the Citadelle and its museum. Permanent and temporary exhibitions. In the summer, the soldiers of the Royal 22e Régiment stage military ceremonies, such as Beating the Retreat and the Changing of the Guard.
