Location: Québec City
(Old Québec - Old Port district)
What is now known as Chevalier House, an integral part of historical Place-Royale, was restored in 1959 and is in fact three separate houses: Chesnay House, Frérot House and Chevalier House. Together, they represent an important example of Québec's architectural heritage due to the presence of fire walls, high chimneys and vaulted cellars. The permanent exhibition, A Sense of the Past, does a fine job of recreating interiors and enabling visitors to see and understand how people lived in another era. Chevalier House is also home to an interpretation centre examining the evolution of urban life in Québec City.
