To the north lies the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. To the south, the more populous Québec City area. In between sits a vast expanse of forests, lakes, rivers and valleys. Protected since 1895 and a wildlife reserve since 1981, Laurentides Wildlife Reserve is a breathtaking maze of mountains and valleys, with hundreds of lakes and rivers, and a continental mountain climate. Created a century ago, the original Laurentides Park began its existence more as a forest reserve than a true park. Its unique geographical setting and the special legal status it has enjoyed for over 100 years are the main reasons it has remained in its wild state. Laurentides Wildlife Reserve has long been recognized as a reservoir of natural and wildlife resources rich in recreational potential. Here, hunting, fishing and outdoor enthusiasts of every description have access to a whole range of services to make their stay a truly enjoyable one. More than a reserve, Laurentides Wildlife Reserve is a living tradition. ©Société des établissements de plein air du Québec |
