North America’s first golf course, the Montreal Golf Club, opened in 1873, just a few years before those in Québec City (1875) and La Malbaie (1876), in the Charlevoix region.

What you need to know

Some of the finest golfing in Québec is to be found in its superb resorts, like the world-famous Mont-Tremblant in the Laurentides region or the luxurious Fairmont Le Château Montebello in the Outaouais region.

Many of Québec’s courses were designed by renowned architects. Some also play host to major tournaments that bring golfers accustomed to the top U.S. and European courses head-to-head.

Practical info

Most courses offer club and equipment rentals. Electric golf carts, also available for hire, are mandatory on some courses. Keep in mind that rates are generally lower in the afternoons and on weekdays.
