World’s Best Cheese
Pure goodness, a cheese that’s rolled in vegetable ash, with a semi-strong acidic flavour
The World Cheese Awards 2009 has honoured Le Cendrillon with its coveted title of World Champion Cheese. Produced by La Maison Alexis at Saint-Raymond de Portneuf, Le Cendrillon, an ash-covered, soft surface-ripened soft goat cheese, competed alongside 2,440 cheeses from 34 countries. Le Cendrillon was crowned world champion by nearly 300 cheese experts, who had come to Spain’s Canary Islands for the competition. Owned by Saputo Group, La Maison Alexis has already merited top honours for its “Bleubry” and “Chèvre des Neige” Brie Triple Crème, as well as its “La Sauvagine” which received the "Prix du Public" at the Sélection Caseus 2009, Québec’s fine cheeses competition held last September.
The World Cheese Awards is a yearly competition held during the World Cheese Convention organized by the Guild of Fine Food.
