Festival international du Domaine Forget

Brunching amid peace and harmony

PhotoClose your eyes and imagine a maritime morning. It’s 11 o’clock, and the sun has nearly reached its zenith. All around you are the strains of joyous music and below you, the majestic St. Lawrence River. The buffet is piled high with salmon, salad and fine cheeses, the wine is white… and life is good. It’s official: after a forced hiatus following a fire that destroyed the terrace and the pavilion, Sunday brunches are back! Welcome to Saint-Irénée-les-Bains in the heart of Charlevoix!

PhotoAha! We’ve piqued your interest! There’s nothing like a music and dance academy for meeting a gourmet challenge. The Domaine Forget, does that and much more! World renowned, its students and teachers come from every corner of the globe. What’s more, the maestros and their pupils perform during the international festival, which takes place from the end of June to the beginning of September. Just what makes the festival’s program so interesting? The mix of genres! Here, classical, jazz, new music and even pop are united under a single sky—the Charlevoix

A blessing in disguise?

PhotoIn June 2005, in the midst of the festival, a fire destroyed the multifunctional pavilion and its superb terrace, putting an end to the Sunday brunches and interrupting the academicians’ summer internship. That nightmare is now far in the past, and a new pavilion stands high on the Charlevoix cape, surrounded by a splendid terrace overlooking the glorious St. Lawrence.

Definitively modern yet evoking its heritage origins, the 1,500-m2 (16,000-sq. ft.) building is better adapted to the academy’s needs and includes a 225-seat dining room, kitchen, rehearsal and dance hall as well as four lecture rooms upstairs.

Music may soothe the savage beast…

Photo…but good food soothes the appetite, and the Domaine Forget excels at both! Its sumptuous menu would satisfy a pack of savage beasts and features mouth-watering regional products, while the wine list is impressive…

The buffet tables are a veritable parade of Charlevoix flavours that are truly fit for a king! You’ll enjoy delicacies prepared by skilled chefs, such as cold grilled pepper soup, salmon with capers and Florentine omelette with Migneron, a regional cheese. Some 20 dishes are waiting to tantalize your taste buds!

« “Music is…

For more information on this photo……noise that thinks,” or so said Victor Hugo. What would he say today? At the Domaine Forget, a great deal of thought has gone into preparing for you an eclectic and enjoyable program where Gypsy jazz meets chamber music, and French songs pay court to Celtic music.

Voilà! Enjoy brunching amid peace and harmony!
