In 1989 Gaudry and Pauline Normand founded Mine Cristal as an active mining, interpretation and educational centre. Extracted by hand from the 300-million-year-old vein of quartz, our crystals are considered among the most beautiful in the world. This geological gem is the only quartz crystal mine in Canada! We offer guided tours of the mine, a large store, a museum, concerts featuring crystal instruments, specialized workshops and a picnic area - all located at an altitude of 400 metres (1,300 ft.), in the Appalachian Mountains.
