The Shrine of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha is located in the St. Francis Xavier Mission (1720), set alongside the St. Lawrence River in the Mohawk community of Kahnawake. It celebrates the memory of this young Amerindian woman who was converted to Christianity in the early days of the colony and was the first Native person to be canonized on October 21, 2012. April 17 is her feast day. |
