Chambly Canal National Historic Site of Canada

Chambly
Region:
The Chambly Canal, open to navigation since 1843, now receives pleasure yachts. It used to be in the forefront of the Québec forest products industry and in their export to the United States. The canal, nearly 20 km long, connects Chambly to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in Montérégie. Most of the locks and two bridges still function manually, and in Chambly, the combined locks are the only ones of their kind in Québec. ©Parks Canada
