Maison nationale des Patriotes

Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu
Region:
The home of merchant and Patriot Jean-Baptiste Mâsse, built in 1809, is remarkable for its ground plan, in the shape of a rectilinear trapezium. With its firewalls and multiple openings, this home is a good example of urban architecture in a rural setting. It was designated an historic monument in 1977. Accompanied by a tour guide in period costume, immerse yourself in the 1800s in the heart of the patriot movement. You will understand the social, economic and political context in which the events of 1835-1838 took place.
