| Location: Dolbeau-Mistassini | |||||||
| The first monks arrived in Mistassini on November 10, 1892. They travelled up the Mistassini River and settled at the confluence of the Mistassibi River, at the foot of the waterfalls which became known as Chutes des Pères (priests' falls). Every day, the monks spend approximately four hours in church celebrating mass, and dedicate seven other periods during the day to prayer. The monastery is open year-round to people wishing to go on a retreat. The Notre-Dame de Mistassini monastery is supported mainly through the sale of its chocolate. | |||||||
