On some adventure tourism trips, people sleep in prospector’s tents, particularly during the winter. This large tent, made of resistant, waterproof canvas, is supported by three parallel horizontal struts. An opening is often made to accommodate the chimney of a small wood stove.

Travelling with a tent, a trailer or a tent trailer? Then choose among Québec's 940 campgrounds. Nestled in woodlands, resting by lakesides, along rivers or on fine sand beaches, these campgrounds offer a host of amenities, attractions, and activities. You can't get any closer to nature!

Choose your campground

A new mandatory rating system for all campgrounds is in the process of being implemented. At the start of the summer, the rating of some 300 campgrounds will be confirmed by an attestation. By around September 1, all campgrounds listed on Bonjour Québec.com should have received an official rating from the Conseil de développement du camping du Québec (CDCQ). Campgrounds are usually open from April until October, so reserve your summer dream-spot ahead of time!

The new wave... canoe camping

Adventure tourism agencies organize group expeditions for all levels. You can also fish in certain wildlife reserves.

Winter fun... in a tent

Parc national de la Gaspésie, GaspésieFor a unique adventure, why not winter camp? From mid-October until mid-May, you can do so in several campgrounds and national parks. You'll get a taste of the life of early settlers. Some native communities even offer the chance to sleep in an igloo or tepee. Experience our splendid Québec winter first hand! Camping Québec, a non-profit organization, represents the operators of 73,000 of the 100,000 campsites available in Québec. Sépaq (a government corporation managing natural sites and tourist facilities) proposes over 7,000 sites in national parks and wildlife reserves.
