The scope and economic benefits of the Festival International des Rythmes du Monde du Saguenay make it the biggest outdoor cultural/tourism event to hit the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. The Festival brings together over 800 international artists, artisans and musicians from some 15 countries. This gathering, for both families and world music fans alike, now attracts 250,000 festival-goers and generates almost $14M in economic benefits annually. Downtown Chicoutimi gives itself over to music and dance, and takes on a thoroughly cosmopolitan feel as crowds throng to enjoy free shows on four outdoor stages set up on two sites. |
