Secrétariat aux affaires autochtones du Québec

Québec City
Regions: See the regions
Since its creation in 1978, the Secrétariat aux affaires autochtones has been pursuing a twofold mission: it coordinates government action in aboriginal matters and it works to harmonize relations between the aboriginal peoples, the government and the general public in Québec. The Secretariat's mandate also includes drafting government policies, negotiating agreements with aboriginal communities and providing general information to its various clienteles. Economic development represents an increasingly important part of the activities of the Secretariat, which manages the Aboriginal Development Fund.
