Historically, the Latin Quarter was the first district to be occupied by Montréal's French-speaking middle class. Its transformation into a cultural mecca was solidified with the construction of the métro and the establishment of a flourishing artistic and business community. Since then, the Latin Quarter has become Montréal's and Québec's undisputed hub of urban life.
