Bicycle in Québec!

Photo. The Route Verte, which covers 5000 km (3,100 mi) of Québec from East to West, has reached the top of the ranks of bike trails worldwide, according to Journeys of a Lifetime, published in 2007 in the prestigious National Geographic magazine. From the banks of the majestic St. Lawrence to scenic mountain-side routes, this perfectly marked path directs cyclists towards various tourist attractions.

Follow the Route Verte ...

Photo....and be entranced by Québec's stunning landscapes.
  • The Véloroute des Cantons extends for some 225 km (140 mi.) across the Eastern Townships and is a wonderful way to discover the region’s villages, natural parks and abundance of beautiful landscapes! The Véloroute des Cantons is linked to the Montérégie cycle path network, which leads to Montréal via the fertile lowlands.
  • In Charlevoix, you can access the Route Verte by river shuttle from Tadoussac, on the Côte-Nord, or from Rivière-du-Loup, in Bas-Saint-Laurent.

Cyclists welcome!

Make travelling easier by choosing hotels that are Bienvenue cyclistes! (Route Verte). Among other amenities, you’ll find a covered and locked location to store your bikes (only at hotels and lodges), access to a pump and tools, as well as a wealth of useful information for biking tourists. In addition, Bienvenue cyclistes! campgrounds offer space without prior reservations for globetrotters who are traveling exclusively by bike.

Feel the rush going downhill... on a mountain bike

Photo. With these awesome places to choose from, it's no wonder mountain biking is so popular in Québec: the Laurentides mountain range on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, the Appalachian range to the south, Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier (100 km / 62 mi.), Bromont in the Eastern Townships region, and Mont-Sainte-Anne near Québec City, where many international mountain-bike competitions take place.
