Bicycle in Québec!

The Route Verte, which covers 5000 km (3,100 mi) of Québec from East to West, has reached the top of the ranks of bike trails worldwide, according to Journeys of a Lifetime, published in 2007 in the prestigious National Geographic magazine. From the banks of the majestic St. Lawrence to scenic mountain-side routes, this perfectly marked path directs cyclists towards various tourist attractions.

• Véloroute des Bleuets (256 km / 159 mi) this circuit (certifié Qualité Tourisme) enables you to travel around the immense lac Saint-Jean (Saguenay—Lac Saint-Jean) and to take full advantage of the beauty of its views. It is also an ideal location to pick blueberries along the way!

• P'tit train du Nord linear parkway (200 km / 124 mi.) This bicycle path was created on what used to be the Laurentides railway. You'll be truly carried away as you travel through forests and small villages.

• The Capital Pathway, in Outaouais, through the heart of Canada’s Capital Region.
  

• In Charlevoix, you can access the Route Verte by river shuttle from Tadoussac, on the Côte-Nord, or from Rivière-du-Loup, in Bas-Saint-Laurent.
  

• Some of the other better-known circuits include the Petit Témis Inter-Provincial Linear Park (127 km / 79 mi., Bas-Saint-Laurent region), Jacques-Cartier-Portneuf (68 km / 42 mi., Québec City region), the Parc linéaire des Bois-Francs (77 km / 48 mi.) and the Circuit des traditions network in the Centre-du-Québec, not to mention the Gaspé Peninsula (90 km / 56 mi.).

With these awesome places to choose from, it's no wonder mountain biking is so popular in Québec: the Laurentides mountain range on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, the Appalachian range to the south, Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier (100 km / 62 mi.), Bromont in the Eastern Townships region, and Mont-Sainte-Anne near Québec City, where many international mountain-bike competitions take place.
