Did you know?
Many of the major bike paths of the Route Verte (P’tit train du Nord, Petit Témis, Parc linéaire des Bois-Francs…) run along abandoned train tracks, giving them a new lease on life! Their even slope makes them popular with families and retirees, who also appreciate their natural setting and safety.

Thinking of exploring Québec by bike? It couldn’t be easier, thanks to the Route Verte! This immense and highly accessible bikeway network covers over 4,000 km (2,500 mi.) on its way through 16 regions of Québec, from deep woods to city centres. Officially inaugurated in 2007, the bikeway has been more than 12 years in the making. Today, cyclists can take advantage of a network that, at 90% completion, is on par with the world’s best cycle itineraries.

Cyclists welcome!

Two-wheeled travellers will be delighted by the many hotels, B&Bs, campgrounds and food services that line the Route verte. Make your trip even more hassle-free by choosing bike-friendly accommodations. Establishments accredited Bienvenue cyclistes! (cyclists welcome) offer up made-to-measure services like sheltered and secure bike parking (hotels and B&Bs only), access to pumps and tools, and a wealth of useful information for cycle tourists. Bienvenue cyclistes! campgrounds, in turn, have campsites available for visitors travelling exclusively by bike with no prior reservation required.

Follow the Route Verte ...

...and be entranced by Québec's stunning landscapes.

  • Véloroute des bleuets (256 km / 160 mi.) This path circles spectacular Lac Saint-Jean, located in a geographical heartland with breathtaking scenery. And wait till you taste the blueberries!
  • The Véloroute des Cantons extends for some 200 km (125 mi.) across the Eastern Townships and is a wonderful way to discover the region’s villages, natural parks and abundance of beautiful landscapes! The Véloroute des Cantons is linked to the Montérégie cycle path network, which leads to Montréal via the fertile lowlands.
Feel the rush going downhill… on a mountain bike

Mont Pinacle, Cantons-de-l'EstWith these awesome places to choose from, it's no wonder mountain biking is so popular in Québec: the Laurentides mountain range on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, the Appalachian range to the south, Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier (100 km / 62 mi.), Bromont in the Eastern Townships region, and Mont-Sainte-Anne near Québec City, where many international mountain-bike competitions take place.
