Réserve faunique Mastigouche

Saint-Alexis-des-Monts
Regions:
Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve is an enchanting region of natural splendor that offers everything outdoor enthusiasts could ask for. The reserve's stunning scenery, with its winding rivers and hundreds of lakes nestled among breathtaking mountains, never fails to impress visitors. Established in 1971 to increase public access to the region, the reserve was formerly operated by private hunting and fishing clubs, the most well known being the Saint-Bernard (founded in 1872) and the Mastigouche (founded in 1901).
Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve provides an ideal habitat for a wide variety of animals and birds including moose, black bears, beaver, hares, ruffed grouse, loons, herons and many others. Although several species of fish can be found in the reserve's lakes, including landlocked salmon at popular Sorcier Lake, speckled trout are by far the most popular with anglers. In fact, they are exceptionally numerous in reserve waters. The reserve's special appeal is also a magnet for visitors who come to enjoy other recreational activities for the day or to stay at one of the superb cabins located in enchanting surroundings. Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve–simply spellbinding!
