Musée de l'ardoise

Region City
Eastern Townships Richmond
The Musée de l’ardoise offers a permanent exhibition on the history and heritage of slate, at the origin of the name "Pays de l’ardoise". Enter this exceptional church built in 1889 and discover the fabulous history of this remarkable stone whose extraction and use in architecture contributed to the development of the Eastern Townships at the end of the 19th century. As you exit the museum, take the walking route through the streets of Richmond, listening to the podcast on the history of this historic district while admiring the architecture of several slate-roofed houses. Every summer, the museum also offers temporary exhibitions and cultural activities.
