The fort is undergoing major renovations and will open in stages overt the next two years.

In order to carry out major restoration work on the historic buildings , the fortification of the Fort Lennox National Historic Site is CLOSED IN 2021 to the public. However, it is possible to access the island to enjoy the green spaces.


The role of Fort Lennox was to protect the colony against an eventual American invasion by way of the Richelieu River, one of entrance into Canada. Come and discover this exceptional site, the star of the Richelieu River!
