Laval has loads of outings for those seeking activities to please the whole family.

The most active can tame the wave at an indoor surf centre, fly in a vertical wind tunnel, do a swan dive, climb walls, jump at an amusement centre and even fly an aircraft at a flight simulation centre.

And why not rack your brains to find clues and solve a puzzle to escape a room? In Laval, it’s also easy to combine fun and entertainment with enriching discoveries. Several of the region’s attractions offer the most inquisitive minds excellent opportunities to stimulate their neurons and quench their thirst for knowledge while having fun. Learning has never been so entertaining!

Athletically inclined families will love visiting one of Laval’s parks and enjoy a boat ride on Rivière des Mille Îles, hiking on beautiful trails or practising other outdoor activities.

Families will soon have the opportunity to see a professional hockey team play at an attractive price with the debut of the Laval Rocket—the Montreal Canadiens’ farm team—at Place Bell. The 10,000-seat multipurpose cultural and sports complex opened in the fall of 2017.

Culture in all its forms is alive in Laval! Numerous performances are presented on the city’s major stages, at the Théâtre Marcellin-Champagnat, the Maison des arts de Laval, and the Salle André-Mathieu. The latter also hosts the Orchestre symphonique de Laval, conducted by Alain Trudel.

Laval is home to the Armand-Frappier Museum, which features an exhibition on one of the human body’s most fascinating organs: the brain. The city also celebrates culture with the Zones musicales, a series of musical performances presented all summer at various Laval venues.

The Centre de la nature and Centropolis are also popular gathering places for large family-friendly celebrations, as is the Old-Sainte-Rose heritage district where artistic and country-flavoured events take place.

Laval has created a mobile app about its history and heritage. The Parcourir Laval app for iPhone or iPad makes it easy to discover the region’s heritage treasures and history. Choose from four geotagged tours to explore various points of interest and historic buildings.

Looking for activities that are truly out of the ordinary? Search no more! Laval abounds with exciting experiences.

To start, the Cosmodome—Canada’s only attraction dedicated to astronautics—offers three interactive space missions. And speaking of unique activities, you can experience the thrill of the free-fall portion of a parachute jump at SkyVenture, try flowboarding on an artificial wave at Maeva Surf, reach new heights at Escalade Clip ‘n Climb and fly a Boeing 737 or an F-16 Fighting Falcon at AeroSim Experience, a flight simulation centre. Why not take part in an escape game where you have to find clues and solve puzzles to break out of a room?

You can also transform your urban adventure into an outdoor one! Beautiful nature settings are just a short distance away. Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles and Centre de la nature are spectacular green spaces where you can enjoy a variety of sports and outdoor activities.

You can now board the 360 bus operated by the Société de transport de Laval (STL) for direct service to downtown Laval and its vast choice of amazing attractions. Take advantage of this FREE service from the Montmorency metro station or your Laval hotel’s main entrance.

The opportunities to enjoy winter fun in Laval are practically endless! The Centre de la nature and Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles both offer a slew of winter activities, such as sliding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and skating. You’re sure to love ice fishing on the river, in one of the fishing huts operated by Aventure Mille-Îles.

The Coureurs de boisés cross-country ski club boasts 25 km of trails and organizes a variety of activities, including torch-lit walks. Explore the wondrous natural site of the Bois de l'Équerre while snowshoeing or hiking. If you’re more the urban type, head to the outdoor refrigerated skating rink at Centropolis where storytelling and hot chocolate await you.

You can go snowmobiling in Laval! The Club de Motoneige Laval’s 60 km of groomed and marked trails allow you to discover the region under a blanket of snow, before continuing your journey along trails leading directly to the Laurentians and Lanaudière regions.
