Permanent exhibitions

  • Rêver beau. Rêver grand. (Dream beautiful. Dream big)
The former billiard room of Oscar Dufresne’s residence has been restored and highlighted as part of the visitor experience. A symbol of social status and belonging to Montréal’s French-speaking bourgeoisie, this room offers a glimpse into the lifestyle of the period. A multimedia presentation projected onto a 1930s billiard table explores the legacy of the Dufresne brothers, visionaries who played a key role in the development of the former City of Maisonneuve.
  • Les 5 vies du Château Dufresne (The 5 lives of Château Dufresne)
Occupied by various members of the Dufresne family and later by students of the Pères de Sainte-Croix, Château Dufresne has served many purposes over the years. It notably housed Québec’s first National Museum of Contemporary Art and an early Museum of Decorative Arts before becoming the museum and heritage institution we know today. This rich history is presented in the introductory section of the visitor experience.
