The Grands Feux Loto-Québec: the best places to enjoy the show

Ah! Fireworks! With their magnificent colours and breathtaking effects, they never cease to amaze us. You can watch them up close from the comfort of a pre-booked seat, aboard a boat with a drink in hand, or sitting back in a camping chair – the choice is yours. There are so many ways to enjoy the Grands Feux Loto-Québec.

First held in 1995 at Parc de la Chute-Montmorency as part of an international competition, the fabulous spectacle that is the Grands Feux Loto-Québec was staged on a barge in the middle of the river in 2008 to mark the 400th anniversary of city of Québec. Since then, Quai Paquet in Lévis and Place des Canotiers in the Old Port of Québec have become the two focal points of the event – a delight for young and old alike.

Comfort and quality guaranteed

Although the show is free of charge – all you have to do is look up at the sky – a variety of paid options are available to make the experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

For front-row seats, you can book a spot in the reserved seating area along the river, opposite the launch barge. Fancy a drink? You have the choice between a two-drink package and the belvedere lodge (only in the city of Québec), which also provides access to a private bar.

Would you rather be out on the river? Hop on a boat and you’ll have the best seats in the house! Climb aboard for a cruise and fireworks experience, complete with a drink or full dinner if you like. Many options are available to you, as long as you’re prepared to pay up to a few hundred dollars, depending on the package.

Do you like the idea of dinner and fireworks, but would rather stay on dry land? No problem! Between the Château Frontenac, the Hilton Québec and the Quarante 7 at the Musée de la civilisation, there are plenty of options!

Savvy vantage points to watch the show without breaking the bank

Do you want to avoid the crowds and watch the fireworks from a distance instead? You won’t even have to touch your wallet! Here are some suggestions. Many people have shared their favourite spots on social media. Good locations include the parking lots of the Promenades Beauport shopping centre and various stores on boulevard Louis XIV, some parts of boulevard des Chutes, Terrasse Dufferin in Old Québec and Promenade Horatio-Walker in Sainte-Pétronille-de-l’Île-d’Orléans. All you need is a folding chair or a blanket to spread out on the ground!

Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, while farther away from the action, provides a different, but no less impressive, view of the show in an enchanting setting. Lastly Parc de la Baie-de-Beauportwith its beach and green spaces, offers an unobstructed view of the river and the fireworks.

Are you tempted, but worried that you won’t enjoy it as much without the music? No problem! The radio station BLVD 102.1 will be broadcasting the music and audio from the show from 10 p.m. onwards.
