Bonjour Québec opens a new window on Montmorency Falls

When you’re on a trip and keen to discover a tourist attraction, you’re (obviously!) looking for the best vantage point to capture its essence. At Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, a new blue-coloured structure has been set up to help you on this quest by framing, in our opinion, a place that’s well worth the detour!

In keeping with the mission of Bonjour Québec and its destination specialists, this monument guides you to one of the must‑see views of your visit. In this SÉPAQ-run park, the view in question is at the base of the park’s iconic and imposing 83‑metre‑high waterfall (30 metres higher than the Niagara Falls!). We highly recommend that you stop for a moment to engrave this breathtaking landscape in your memory—or to strike a pose.

How to get there

There are many ways to get to the park from the city of Québec. Travelling by car or bike, you can take the Route de la Nouvelle-France, a historical route snaking along the Côte-de-Beaupré and featuring a stop here. This point of interest is also a great addition to your itinerary if you’re embarking on a agritourism tour of Île d’Orléans—a quick visit that’s super close to the island!

If public transport is your thing, hop on board one of our buses! In summer, you can take part in a guided bus tour that includes a stop at the falls. All year round, you can also take the route 800 bus operated by the Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC) to the Chute-Montmorency terminal. The upper entrance to the park is a 5‑minute walk from the stop.

Access to the Bonjour Québec frame

When you arrive on site, you can get to the Bonjour Québec viewpoint by first passing through the visitor centre at the station and then continuing toward the Nature Trail on the left. It’s on this trail that you’ll encounter a blue structure inviting you to take in the beauty of the surroundings before getting down to the business of immortalizing your visit in photos.

The monument is accessible until November, when it will go into hibernation along with several other installations on the site. But fear not! It will be back along with the warm weather, in May.

Share your visit!

We urge you to visit our new tourist structure with the arrival of the dazzling fall colours. Capturing images in front of this impressive waterfall is the ideal opportunity to show off your portraiture skills.

If you share your visit on social media, don’t forget to add #BonjourQuebec! We love hearing from you at any time, but we especially adore seeing you explore our playgrounds with a smile on your face!

Who knows... maybe this is the first monument of a series?

Other on-site viewpoints

Bonjour Québec’s frame isn’t the only location boasting a stunning panorama. While you’re there, why not take a tour of the other installations?

  • Contemplative footbridge: Walk along this footbridge around the bottom of the waterfall to the foot of the panoramic staircase. Let the waterfall’s splashing spray cool you off before beginning your ascent (or not!).

  • Panoramic staircase: If you’re athletic type, climb the 487 wooden steps built near the waterfall. Different levels allow you to catch your breath while gazing at a landscape that’s worth every effort.

  • Cable car: Climb aboard a glassed-in cable car and enjoy a 360‑degree view of the park, river and surrounding area. Each angle of the waterfall is revealed, saving you a rather strenuous ascent on foot!

  • Suspension bridge: Cross this bridge for a breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River, Île d’Orléans and even the City of Québec, all while feeling the roar of the Rivière Montmorency beneath you.

  • La Baronne observation deck: From the Manoir’s terrace, cross the boardwalk that gently leads to this lookout at the side of the waterfall. From here, you might spot a few daredevils ziplining across the cove.

Due to construction work, the parking lot at the top of the park isn’t accessible. The installations remain accessible from the entrance at the bottom of the waterfall.
