A trading post, an enchanted forest, a beach on the edge of a 110-km lake, a native presence dating back 6,000 years, and two centuries of rivalry to control the fur trade. This is Obadjiwan–Fort Témiscamingue National Historic Site!

- Exposition d'artefacts autochtonesCome and see nearly 80 never-before-seen Aboriginal artifacts that were once discovered during archaeological digs at Obadjiwan-Fort-Témiscamingue National Historic Site. They are presented to the public to share the symbolic value of this collection of objects that commemorates a part of the rich aboriginal culture.
- Circuit découverte (Discovery tour)12 historical scenes of life representing the various buildings of the fur trading post and their respective functions, as well as the trades and lifestyles of the time.
- Obadjiwan (Obadjiwan)The exhibition, recounting the entire history of Fort Témiscamingue and testifying to the millennia-old presence of the Anicinabeg (Algonquins) in the region, transports visitors to the flourishing era of the fur trade.
Temporary exhibitions
- June 21 to August 31, 2025: À la rencontre de Karl Chevrier (Meeting Karl Chevrier)Animations on Algonquin crafts and demonstration of birchbark kayak making. For the very first time, Karl Chevrier, traditional craftsman, member of the Timiskaming First Nation and Master of Living Traditions, will be making a birchbark kayak at Obadjiwan-Fort-Témiscamingue National Historic Site. Schedule: Wednesday to Sunday, according to current opening hours
- June 21 to June 21, 2025: Journée nationale des peuples autochtones (National Indigenous Peoples Day)Enjoy cultural activities with the Timiskaming First Nation. On the program: native music, drumming, dancing and singing, and the vernissage of the outdoor artwork created by artist Nika Paul, who will be on hand to chat with the public. Free admission. A public consultation kiosk will also be on site to discuss the site's operations over the next few years. Come and have your say! The event will be held rain or shine.
- July 01 to July 01, 2025: Fête du CanadaOn the program: 1 p.m.: opening of the exhibition L'imprévisible voyage, by visual artist Marie-Claude Lefebvre, originally from Témiscamingue. 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: musical concert by Témiscamingue artist Juliette Lefebvre-Tardif. Afternoon: period photo booth, scone and tea service, curious beaver rally. Free admission.
- July 02 to August 15, 2025: Visite guidée"Il était une fois un poste de traite": 90-minute guided tour. Follow your guide as he or she explores the stories and realities of the Algonquins, the fort's staff and the voyageurs who left their mark on the site's history. A unique opportunity to better understand the links, exchanges and contrasts between these different visions of the territory. Guided tour times: 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in French, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in English. Priced experience.
- July 02 to September 01, 2025: Exposition temporaire L’imprévisible voyage, de l’artiste Marie-Claude LefebvreTémiscamingue artist Marie-Claude Lefebvre presents her exhibition, L'imprévisible voyage, all summer long at the Obadjiwan-Fort-Témiscamingue National Historic Site. You'll discover her dancing creations representing joy, life, the afterlife, nature, characters, animals and more, all guided by the artist's colorful imagination. They'll leave you with a luminous smile and unforgettable images to take home as souvenirs.
- July 11 to July 11, 2025: Pique-Nique & cirqueEvent organized by the municipality of Duhamel-Ouest, inviting you to celebrate summer with Cirque Collini and artist David Fleury. Bring your own lunch. Free admission.
- July 19 to August 09, 2025: Ateliers de fabrication de paniers en aiguilles de pin avec dégustations boréalesPine needle basket-making workshops with boreal tastings by the Mycélia-Champignons market and local products. 1 to 4:30 p.m. Registration fee: $25 (materials included, admission fees extra)
