Permanent exhibitions

  • Des bateaux et des hommes
At the Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive shipyard, the Museum tells the story of wooden schooners and coastal shipping on the St. Lawrence in a 360° tour, from forest to river. The shipyard's 1946 facilities and four boats in dry dock are interpreted and opened to visitors.
  • Le 8e voyage à la vitesse du vent
Until the 1930s, sailing schooners plied the St. Lawrence. In the absence of roads, they supplied coastal towns and villages with produce from the land and sea. Le huitième voyage: à la vitesse du vent (The eighth voyage: at the speed of the wind) features Adrien, a 13-year-old sailor. Visitors are invited to take the controls of his father's virtual schooner for a fun, technological and contemporary experience that will delight young and old alike!
  • Né pour naviguer
The exhibition tells the story of the families of Charlevoix schooner sailors in an animated photographic and video immersion with synchronized projections on three walls. A must-see!
  • Les petits bateaux
The St. Lawrence River has always escorted navigators across the continent. The Museum showcases some 15 models of ships from all eras that have sailed the river.
  • Naufrages
New immersive exhibition! At the heart of the mysteries buried in the tumultuous waters of the St. Lawrence River, discover the story of the shipwrecks that have marked the history and imagination of the people of Charlevoix. Let yourself be transported by spectacular images propelling you into the hold of a ship, the wheelhouse of a schooner assaulted by the raging elements, or even underwater, diving towards a submerged wreck. A must-see!
