Located in Cree territory, Oujé-Bougoumou means “place where people gather.”

The community of Oujé-Bougoumou sits on the shores of Lac Opémiska, about 270 km northwest of Lac Saint-Jean. In 2015, it earned a United Nations award for its unique and sustainable design. In Oujé-Bougoumou, nature and culture are closely intertwined.
