With more than a hundred beaches; and fifteen or so aquatic parks, we aren’t lacking in places to have fun and take a dip. Happy as fish in water, we slip on flip-flops and bathing suits, and are off to build a sand castle, take a kayak ride or jump on a dizzying descent down a waterslide...

It shows that we closely monitor the quality of our bathing water. Each summer, a government body analyzes the water at our 125 public beaches throughout Québec.

There is nothing better to relax and empty your mind than a peaceful stroll along a beach of warm sand. Pointe-Taillon beach at Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean (15 km), Pointe-aux-Loups beachon the Îles-de-la-Madeleine (16.5 km), Oka beach in Montérégie (7 km), Haldimand beach in Gaspésie (2 km) and Lac-Simon beach in Outaouais (2 km) are a few examples.

Our aquatic parks provide a choice of waterslides for all ages and all tastes. With names like Les Rafales (gusts), La Rivière Colorado and the Eldorado, our waterslides will certainly give those who love an adrenaline rush what they are looking for! Wave pools, tubing, magic carpet slides, inflatable boat slides, back or head-first slides or slides on the stomach for the most foolhardy…which one will you choose?

The beach is synonymous with swimming and water activities, but it is also a place to meet, to party and to show off our talents and creativity. The sandcastle competition in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine and the L’Islet sand and ice festival in Chaudière-Appalaches wow with their immense sand-made structures. And, in Gaspésie, the Festi-plage de Cap-d’Espoir celebrates, directly on the beach, the next generation of Québec musical talent.

To make swimming accessible to people with reduced mobility, some beaches have ramps, sand carpets and wheelchairs, also know as Hippocampe wheelchairs.
