Our country roads are brimming with flavours and tasty finds.

Orchards, apiaries, market gardens and other agrotourism businesses open their fields to us. Very popular, “pick-your-own” gives us the chance to be a “gleaner” and choose the fruits or vegetables that seem most appetizing to us in the calm of the countryside. Strawberries, apples, pears, pumpkins or others, no matter their colour or size, everything is tempting! In the evening, enjoy a good meal around a country table and to experience an overnight stay, waking up to the sound of the rooster crowing.

Seasons

Our gourmet routes are stunning, especially in the spring, summer and fall. Foods and flavours vary from season to season.

U-pick and great dining

  • Staying at a rural establishment is an unique experience in the midst of beautiful nature. There are often activities such as a small farming, playgrounds, tractor rides, walking trails and interpretation centres. When you wake up, enjoy an expertly cooked breakfast made from local foods. Most our farm lodgings, also known as homestays (with our French friends), offer a gourmet evening menu creatively put together using regional products.

  • An excellent family activity, picking your own berries offers the opportunity to travel our rural roads and discover the richness of our farmlands. Several agrotourism farms allow the collection of strawberries, raspberries, cherries, cranberries, blueberries, haskap berries and other varieties. You then return home to cook grandmother’s favourite recipes. Fresh, in small jars, in desserts or in sauces… these products are magnificent!

  • In August and September, it’s apple season. Meet up with family or friends for a picnic and pick Vista Bella, Lobo, McIntosh or even Sunrise. Our orchards offer a total of 18 varieties! Depending on their specific characteristics, they are prepared as main dishes, desserts, compotes, juices and even ciders! In addition, several cider houses offer guided tours and tastings. Have you tried our famous ice cider?

  • Agrotourism is a way of discovering our local flavours. By car, bike or motorbike, tour our agricultural producers to sample their talent. Learn the basics about various crops, production and processing methods. Enjoy fresh local products in the company of passionate and welcoming people. This is an opportunity to stock up on artisanal chocolates, honey, cheese, bread, pastries and other delicacies. It tastes like heaven!

  • Sweet corn from Neuville, farm cheese, Québec wine and even Charlevoix lamb are some examples of produce that is recognized and protected in Québec. Moreover, we are the only place in North America to have a system of designations similar to what is found in Europe with Protected Geographical Indications (PGI). Throughout the seasons, throughout our territory, discover authentically local products.
