Le Vieux-Saint-Vincent-de-Paul

Region City
Laval Laval
First settled in 1740, this Laval neighbourhood is known for its charming main street dotted by coffee shop terraces and restaurants. Right next to the village church, old houses have been renovated and now host a number of boutiques. Saint-Vincent-de-Paul Church was built in 1853 on a site formerly known as “coteau de la pinière” (pine hill) for its unusual abundance of pine trees. Once a convent, the famous Saint-Vincent-de-Paul penitentiary received its first boatload of inmates from Kingston, Ontario, in 1873.
